Seneca Village

SITUATION

  • Montgomery County demonstrated its commitment to achieving climate goals by prioritizing equitable access to clean energy.

  • The project required strong collaboration with our team to design a system fit for the 2.18 megawatt solar panels to be installed.

  • The objective of this project was to enhance affordable housing in the Gaithersburg area by introducing new roof mounted solar-power across 58 buildings to benefit its residents.

CHALLENGES

  • This high-profile project operated under strict compliance and regulatory conditions, with a tight timeline for installation. It is currently the largest and most impactful solar project on an affordable multifamily property in Montgomery County’s history.

  • The 58 buildings scheduled for new roof replacements spanned over 40 acres, necessitating seamless coordination with management and residents to ensure the implementation of adequate safety measures.

SOLUTIONS AND RESULTS

  • Patuxent, A PAX Services Company, completed all 58 buildings on time and within budget.

  • These roofs now feature energy-efficient designs with reflective coatings and a 2.18 MW rooftop solar array.

  • The property will now achieve energy savings of 2,583,535 kWh resulting in over $300,000 in annual savings.
